The Ultimate Engineer Build in Remnant 2

Introduction

The engineer is one of the most versatile and powerful archetypes in Remnant 2. With the ability to deploy turrets and wear heavy armor, the engineer can adapt to any combat situation. However, creating the optimal engineer build requires careful planning and an in-depth understanding of the skills, weapons and gear that synergize best.

In this guide, I will share the engineer build that I have refined over hundreds of hours playing Remnant 2. I will cover the best weapons, armor pieces, rings and amulets to equip, along with which skills, traits and perks to invest in. By the end, you will have everything you need to know to create an unstoppable engineer that can carry any team to success.

Weapons

Choosing the right weapons is crucial for getting the most out of the engineer archetype. Here are the ideal weapons to equip:

Long Gun: Particle Accelerator

The particle accelerator is hands down the best long gun option for engineers. Its charged shot mechanic allows you to unleash devastating single target and area damage, shredding bosses and clearing adds with ease.

To charge the particle accelerator, hold down the fire button until the weapon reaches maximum charge. The longer you charge, the more damage the shot will do. Tap fire to release the charge shot. Area damage scales based on charge time, so you can strategically vary charge length depending on the situation.

The main stats for the particle accelerator are:

  • Damage: 165
  • Magazine Size: 3
  • Fire Rate: Very slow
  • Ideal Range: 50m

I recommend equipping the particle accelerator with the Focus Lens mod, which boosts weak spot damage by 100%. This turns you into a sniper, able to one-shot most enemies by hitting their weak points.

Hand Gun: Devastator

The devastator pistol is the perfect complement to the particle accelerator. It has a modest magazine size, but makes up for it with lightning fast fire rate, good damage and bonus armor penetration.

By quickly swapping between the devastator and particle accelerator, you can pour on both single target and area damage as needed. The devastator also serves as an “oh crap” panic weapon thanks to its high rate of fire.

Here are the main stats:

  • Damage: 68
  • Magazine Size: 15
  • Fire Rate: Very fast
  • Armor Penetration: 25%

I recommend the Storm Cloud mod to further boost damage.

Melee: Forged in Flame

The forged in flame chainsaw gives the engineer build some much needed close quarters damage potential. It inflicts fire damage with every hit, damaging enemies over time. It also builds recalibration meter quickly so you can refresh your turret charges faster.

Here are the key stats:

  • Damage: 248 fire damage per second
  • Speed: Average
  • Crit Chance: 10%

I recommend no melee weapon mod so that the fire damage isn‘t converted into another damage type.

Armor

Since engineers rely heavily on their turrets and benefit from being in the thick of the fight, survivability is key. The Leto armor set provides the perfect balance of damage resistance and mobility.

Leto armor

Leto Armor Set Perks

  • +30% elemental damage resistance
  • +20% damage reduction from elites
  • +15% max health

Leto‘s relatively light weight allowance means you aren‘t too slowed down, while still being able to absorb tons of damage. Combined with the engineer‘s fortify trait and the right rings, you will be an unstoppable juggernaut.

Jewelry

The right rings and amulet greatly enhance the engineer‘s capabilities. These are the best options:

Rings

  • Leech Ember: Restores 5% of your max health whenever you apply burn, poison or bleed effects. Great for sustain.
  • Soul Link: Increases mod power generation by 50%. This will keep your turret highly mobile.
  • Gunslinger’s Ring: Increases ranged weapon damage by 20%. Improves particle accelerator and devastator damage.

Amulet

Guardian‘s Blessing: Grants +15% damage reduction from all sources. Further improves survivability when combined with Leto armor set and Fortify trait.

Traits

Level Up Priorities

  1. Fortify – Increases armor effectiveness by 50% at max rank. Mandatory.
  2. Exploit Weakness – Increases weak point damage bonus by 100%. Pairs perfectly with Particle Accelerator.
  3. Barkskin – Reduces all damage taken by 20%. More tankiness.

Invest 10 points in Fortify first, then put the rest into a mix of Exploit Weakness and Barkskin depending on preference.

Skills

The engineer‘s skills directly relate to their turret functionality. Here is the loadout I recommend:

Weapon Deployment

Impact cannon – Fires a projectile that explodes on impact, dealing area damage. Also provides a defensive barrier when not deployed as a turret. Upgraded with the capacitor mod for more damage.

Offensive Deployment

Flamethrower – Projects a deadly stream of fire that ignites enemies. Upgraded with Wildfire mod for more burn damage over time.

Defensive Deployment

Gunner – Fires at nearby enemies automatically with a machine gun. Great for area control. Upgraded with the accelerator mod for more damage.

This combination of offensive and defensive turrets lets you adapt to any combat situation.

Perks

Prime Perk: High Tech

Triggers when using your skill. Provides unlimited ammo and boosts fire rate and damage by 100% for 15 seconds. Extremely powerful burst damage buff.

Damage Perk: Linked Fire

Increases damage by 10% against any enemies targeted by your deployables. Great synergy for melting anchored targets.

Survival Perk: Experimental Armor

Grants 20% damage reduction while near deployables. Activate your skill then stay close to your turret for added defense.

Utility Perk: Micro Factory

Standing near deployables increases their duration by 100%. Keep your turrets up longer to maximize damage and control areas.

Relic Perk: Harmonic Generator

Consuming a relic instantly recharges skill. More frequent access to turret deployments and High Tech buff windows.

Alternative Weapon Options

While particle accelerator and devastator are the clear best in slot picks, here are a couple alternatives I would recommend trying:

Long Gun

  • Beam Rifle – Fires a continuous laser beam. Good sustained damage.
  • Wildfire Shot – Charged explosions. Riskier but higher burst damage potential.

Hand Gun

  • Magnum – Heavy hitting with a low fire rate. Rewards accurate shots.
  • SMG – Extreme fire rate good for shredding bosses.

I would strongly recommend still sticking with Forged in Flame for melee in all situations.

Conclusion

Mastering the engineer in Remnant 2 requires understanding all of the working parts and how to make them fit together effectively. With the right build, you will have access to devastating damage, powerful crowd control effects and near impenetrable defense. Adapt to any combat scenario by deploying a mix of offensive and defensive turrets while dishing out both single target and area damage.

Let me know if you have any other questions about optimizing your engineer. I‘m always happy to discuss build strategies and theorycraft new ideas. Good luck out there!
