Remnant 2 offers players an expansive arsenal of guns to take down enemies. With so many options to choose from, it can be overwhelming deciding which ones are actually worth using. As an avid Remnant 2 player and content creator, I‘ve tested out every gun in the game extensively.
Based on power, mods, versatility, and more, these are my picks for the top 10 best guns in Remnant 2 this year.
1. Nightfall – Best Long Gun
The Nightfall rifle stands above other long guns for its sheer power and unique mod. It fires high-damage shots at a decent fire rate, and has good ammo capacity.
But what really makes Nightfall exceptional is its Dreadwalker mod. When activated, Dreadwalker massively buffs Nightfall‘s fire rate and makes your character harder to hit for 10 seconds. It also grants infinite ammo so you can go crazy with shots.
The only downsides are it prevents using other weapons/skills during that time, and has a long recharge time. Overall though, Nightfall‘s insane damage and carry potential with Dreadwalker make it a must-have.
2. Rune Pistol – Best Handgun
While the Rune Pistol lacks in base damage, its versatile Soul Brand mod more than makes up for it. Soul Brand tags enemies to create healing orbs after defeating them. These orbs seek out and restore health to you and teammates.
On top of superb survivability, the Rune Pistol provides good stats like fire rate, ammo capacity, range, and accuracy. In the hands of a Medic or Invader, the healing support from the Rune Pistol is extremely valuable. It‘s easily the best handgun for team play.
3. Widowmaker – Highest Single-Shot Damage
When you need to one-shot tough enemies from afar, look no further than the Widowmaker sniper rifle. It inflicts an enormous 125 damage per high-precision and high-impact round.
Although it lacks a built-in mod, Widowmaker‘s monstrous per-bullet damage is more than enough to destroy. A skilled user can constantly land crippling critical hits or weak point snipes with it. If your aim is true, the Widowmaker will wipe the floor with elite enemies.
4. Alpha-Omega – Best Crowd Control Long Gun
Few long guns can match Alpha-Omega‘s sheer stopping power against groups. It dishes out rays of destruction at high fire rate on soft targets, then finishes them with huge explosive round bursts.
Alpha-Omega‘s signature Beta Ray mod allows branding multiple enemies at once with marks. When you reload, these volatile marks detonate to damage and stagger entire crowds. It also grants ammo/mod refunds on kills for sustainability.
5. MP60-R – Best Overall & Close Range Handgun
While shotguns specialize at point blank, the MP60-R submachine gun still outpaces them with its blistering 14 rounds per second spew. It excels at shredding close targets and controlling recoil during sustained firefights.
The MP60-R further maximizes damage through pinpoint weak point accuracy and a 10% crit rate. Large magazine capacity and ammo reserves ensure you‘ll almost never run out mid-fight too. Overall, it‘s hands down the best versatile handgun.
6. Merciless – Best Long Gun for Applying Status Effects
Merciless lives up to its name once its sadistic mods and passives kick into high gear. It has modest base power, but makes up for that by causing several damage over time (DoT) effects simultaneously.
Each shot inflicts a stacking 10-second bleed on foes. Its Bloodline mod goes further – launching an orb that penetrates targets for more damage, applying damage amplification to them, and refunding your ammo/mod.
Merciless is thus amazing for triggering related mods that react to status effects, or softening up tanky foes. Fear the Merciless if you dare!
7. Cube Gun – Most Defensive Gun
Remnant 2 isn‘t just about offense – you need great defensive options too. That‘s where the Cube Gun handgun delivers with its virtually impenetrable Cube Shield mod.
Cube Shield can absorb a colossal 500 damage on activation. You can launch this protective barrier offensively afterwards to smash groups too! Cube Gun itself also utilizes a refund mechanic for infinite ammo capacity like Nightfall.
Cube Shield has a slightly longer cooldown than offensive mods, but I highly recommend the Cube Gun for the safety it provides. Both you AND teammates will thank you!
8. Deceit – Best Weak Point Damage Rifle
Another long gun that punches way above its weight class is Deceit. It lacks Rapid Fire or Explosive Shot type mods. However, it owns one of the highest Weak Point damage bonuses in the entire game.
Each of Deceit‘s dual-charged piercing rounds that strike an enemy Weak Spot inflict a devastating 150% extra damage on top of their already beefy base damage.
Landing repeated weak point hits easily compensates for Deceit‘s slower fire rate. Prioritize elite marksmen or invaders to wield this masterful weapon.
9. Enigma – Best Area Damage Handgun
Enigma is a strange weapon resembling the Labyrinth that summons electrical mayhem. Although it lacks in direct power, Enigma assaults groups indirectly with terrifying efficiency.
It leaps overload-applying arcs of lightning between tightly clumped enemies. You can further trap targets with attached overload rods via Enigma‘s Chaos Driver mod. This expands overload chains greatly.
In hectic encounters, Enigma allows hitting way more targets than normally possible. Let electrified pandemonium commence with this methodical handgun!
10. Star Shot – Best Ranged Handgun
Last but not least is the Star Shot handgun, standing out as a versatile and hard-hitting pistol. While most handguns perform best up close, Star Shot sets its sights farther with superb mid range capabilities.
Its plasma blasts strike accurately even at range before exploding to damage groups upon impact. Star Shot‘s mod system also enhances damage/blast radius the more it‘s charged up.
Favoring power over ammo capacity, the Star Shot revolver clicks deadly headshots rapidly down range. It transitions smoothly from controlled 1v1s to split-second crowd stopping.
