Remnant 2 Weapons Tier List – Ranking All Guns in the Game

As an avid Remnant 2 player with over 100 hours logged, I‘ve had the chance to extensively test out all the different weapons available in the game. Based on criteria like damage output, fire rate, recoil, and more – I‘ve created a definitive tier list ranking all the guns from the coveted S-tier to the lackluster D-tier.

How I Evaluated and Ranked the Weapons

To create a fair and accurate weapons tier list for Remnant 2, I used both quantitative and qualitative methods. This included:

Quantitative Factors:

  • Base damage
  • Rate of fire (RPS)
  • Magazine size
  • Critical hit chance
  • Stagger damage

Qualitative Factors:

  • Feel and handling
  • Versatility for different situations
  • Ease of use
  • Synergy with traits and mods

I then aggregated the data and testing results to score each weapon on metrics like DPS (damage per second), total damage per magazine, and general viability. This allowed me to categorize them into tiers without personal bias skewing the results.

Keep in mind certain guns perform better depending on your playstyle and build. But overall, this tier list offers a comprehensive look at the armory available in Remnant 2. Now let‘s get ranking!

S-Tier Weapons

The elite S-tier is home only to the absolute cream of the crop weapons in Remnant 2. They offer the perfect blend of damage, accuracy, ammo capacity and versatility to dominate any situation.

1. Chicago Typewriter

  • Base Damage: 10
  • Fire Rate: 11 RPS
  • Mag Size: 80
  • Crit Chance: 10%

This rapid-fire long gun is the undisputed king when it comes to raw damage per second (DPS) potential. Paired with the huge 80 bullet magazine, you can unleash a nonstop barrage of precise shots before needing to reload. It also boasts top-tier accuracy and can be further enhanced by magazine mods. The Chicago Typewriter specializes in taking down large crowds of enemies and shredding even elite foes quickly.

2. Deceit

  • Base Damage: 120
  • Fire Rate: 2 RPS
  • Mag Size: 6
  • Crit Chance: 15%

With insane per shot damage and a solid 15% critical hit chance, the Deceit packs a real punch. It fires shells that explode and split on impact, hitting multiple targets simultaneously. The slower fire rate and reload time are mitigated by the sheer stopping power and AoE potential. I rely on the Deceit as my go-to for DPS on single strong enemies.

3. Nightshade

  • Base Damage: 47
  • Fire Rate: N/A
  • Mag Size: N/A
  • Crit Chance: 18%

The Nightshade is hands-down the best melee weapon in Remnant 2 when considering DPS capabilities. The fast slashing attacks stack bleed damage quickly, while having an exceptional 18% crit chance for even bigger burst hits. It also debuffs enemies to take 20% more damage – amplifying your partner‘s firepower. The Nightshade specializes in single target takedowns.

A-Tier Weapons

The weapons in the A-tier are nearly best-in-class, but fall slightly short of the S-tier gear in one or two areas. They are still more than viable end-game options for handling any type of encounter.

1. Beam Rifle

  • Base Damage: 75
  • Fire Rate: 3 RPS
  • Mag Size: 15
  • Crit Chance: 10%

This versatile rifle fires continuous laser beams that penetrate targets for excellent group damage. It strikes the perfect balance between power, fire rate and magazine size for exceptional mid to long-range performance. Plus the beam rifle is extremely ammo efficient compared to standard ballistic guns.

2. Ricochet Rifle

  • Base Damage: 55
  • Fire Rate: 3.5 RPS
  • Mag Size: 10
  • Crit Chance: 8%

As the name implies, the ricochet rifle fires projectiles that bounce between targets striking multiple opponents per shot. This grants it great crowd control and area damage capabilities – especially in tight spaces or narrow corridors. It also has strong single target DPS. The only downside is the limited magazine size.

3. Spitfire

  • Base Damage: 85
  • Fire Rate: 3 RPS
  • Mag Size: 30
  • Crit Chance: 6%

The Spitfire light machine gun hits the sweet spot when it comes to balancing big damage and spray control. It has large 50 round magazine to suppress enemies for longer time periods between reloads. The rate of fire and damage also synergize well for bringing down grouped weak minions and wounding tougher elites.

B-Tier Weapons

The B-tier contains reliable, well-rounded weapons – but they aren‘t best suited for handling specific situations or enemy types compared to the top two tiers.

1. Sniper Rifle

  • Base Damage: 340
  • Fire Rate: 1.3 RPS
  • Mag Size: 5
  • Crit Chance: 20%

The extreme long range damage potential thanks to high single shot damage and 20% crit chance is offset by its glacial rate of fire. It can one shot most standard enemies, but leaves you vulnerable in close quarters. The Sniper Rifle works well if you can actively maintain distance.

2. Particle Accelerator

  • Base Damage: 22
  • Fire Rate: 6 RPS
  • Mag Size: 50
  • Crit Chance: 6%

This radiation spewing SMG has a very forgiving mag size and can eat through hordes of swarming enemies quickly. But the lower base damage means you‘ll struggle finishing off elite opponents. It‘s a great mob clearing gun, just carry a more powerful secondary weapon to deal with tougher foes.

3. Magnum

  • Base Damage: 160
  • Fire Rate: 2 RPS
  • Mag Size: 6
  • Crit Chance: 15%

The Magnum packs a real punch with each shot thanks to hitting one of the highest per bullet damage values outside of the Sniper Rifle. It also has 15% crit chance to exponentially boost individual hits. However, the slower fire rate and short reload downtime hold back its overall viability.

C-Tier Weapons

The weapons in C-tier still have some valuable niche uses, but broadly underperform the options ranked higher up. They may be worth equipping situationally depending on modifiers or enemy weaknesses – but generally won‘t be your first choice.

1. Submachine Gun (SMG)

  • Base Damage: 17
  • Fire Rate: 10 RPS
  • Mag Size: 50
  • Crit Chance: 4%

The rapid fire SMG seems appealing thanks to its large magazine, but the critically low damage per hit even when upgraded makes it woefully inefficient. It typically uses too much ammo even on weak adds. The lack of punch relegates the SMG to just staggering dangerous enemies safely from range.

2. Repeater Pistol

  • Base Damage: 28
  • Fire Rate: 6 RPS
  • Mag Size: 12
  • Crit Chance: 8%

Similarly, the repeater pistol suffers from being a "pea shooter" that can‘t dish out enough damage quickly to be viable. Unloading a full mag into standard enemies and barely finishing them off shows where this sidearm falls flat. The fire rate and handling also negatively impact accuracy.

3. Shotguns

Both the standard Pump Action Shotgun and the Legendary Shotgun fall short thanks to inconsistent and unreliable spread patterns. Though they can randomly wreck with a sweet spot crit, the average shot leaves much to be desired. Reloading after two shots also cripples any semblance of DPS.

D-Tier Weapons

I strongly advise avoiding equipping any of these lackluster weapons from the Remnant 2 armory. They are outclassed in almost every way by higher tier options.

1. Revolver

  • Base Damage: 100
  • Fire Rate: 1.2 RPS
  • Mag Size: 6
  • Crit Chance: 8%

The revolver seems decent on paper, but has underwhelming accuracy meaning most shots miss their mark. Combined with the agonizingly slow fire, reload speeds and tiny magazine – you‘ll be overrun by ads long before dropping them. It narrowly beats out the other D-tier weapons thanks to occasionally one shotting weak minions.

2. Hunting Pistol

  • Base Damage: 60
  • Fire Rate: 1.8 RPS
  • Mag Size: 8
  • Crit Chance: 12%

Another weapon that seems viable thanks to decent base damage, but suffers from being outclassed by similar archetypes. The reload speed leaves you vulnerable too often compared to top tier handguns. And the poor handling causes even more missed shots, wasting precious ammo.

3. Assault Rifle

  • Base Damage: 10
  • Fire Rate: 10 RPS
  • Mag Size: 35
  • Crit Chance: 5%

The Assault Rifle has lackluster base stats across the board making it impractical compared to other automatic weapons. The fire rate pairs terribly with the range and recoil creating spraying inaccuracy. Meanwhile the damage is far too low to chew through enemies efficiently. The only minor upside is the extended magazine to avoid constant reloading.

As you explore further into the world and take on greater challenges, be sure to equip top tier guns from this Remnant 2 weapons tier list guide to give yourself the best chance to dominate. No matter your preferred playstyle – carrying the Chicago Typewriter, Deceit or Nightshade covers all combat ranges.

Let me know your thoughts on the rankings and if you disagree with any placements for being overrated or undervalued! I‘m always tweaking assessments based on further testing and player feedback.
