Remnant 2: Ultimate Gunslinger Build Guide

Remnant 2 Gunslinger

As an avid Remnant 2 player with over 100 hours logged, I‘ve experimented extensively with builds for each class. In this guide, I‘ll share what I‘ve found to be the ultimate setup for dominating as a Gunslinger.

Why Play Gunslinger?

The Gunslinger class specializes in ranged combat, sacrificing defense for extreme offensive potential. They deal massive spike damage from a distance while using mobility and spacing to avoid retaliation.

Key Strengths:

  • Burst DPS – Deletes health bars with powerful repeated attacks
  • Range – Engages threats from long range outside danger zones
  • Mobility – Repositions quickly using rolls, speed buffs
  • Flexibility – Swaps between multiple weapon styles

However, the class does have some drawbacks:

Limitations:

  • Squishy – Very vulnerable without protection or lifesteal
  • Ammo Reliant – Constant offensive skill use drains resources quickly
  • Weak Crowd Control – Struggles managing large groups in close proximity
  • NoEnemy Weakness Exploiting – Lacks amplified damage vs certain enemy types

Many choose Gunslinger for its raw damage, but have difficulty pushing into late game content without survivability and adaptability.

This is where combining the Challenger class addresses those gaps perfectly:

As a rugged frontline tank, the Challenger offers:

  • Strong Crowd Control skills to disable groups
  • Weapon techniques that expose enemy weaknesses
  • Powerful defensive and healing abilities
  • Specializes in close range dps

Blending both classes creates a dynamically rounded build able to shred apart any opposition.

Now let‘s break down how to optimize this combo…

Build Overview

This setup focuses on enhancing the Gunslinger‘s strengths while mitigating weaknesses through Challenger synergy.

Core Stats & Buffs

  • 45% Crit Chance
  • +250% Crit Damage
  • 65% Armor Penetration
  • +70% Fire Rate

Sustain

  • 20% Damage to Health Conversion
  • 40% Increased Healing Rate
  • 5% Health Regen Per Second

Crowd Control

  • AOE Slow / Stun / Knockback
  • Target Weakening
  • Debuff Extending

Executed correctly, this enables efficiently dominating through all multiplayer scaled content.

Primary Class: Gunslinger

Let‘s start by optimizing the Gunslinger core…

Best Weapons

Choosing weapons that complement the Gunslinger‘s strengths is critical. I recommend the following trio for covering all bases:

Main Gun: Beam Rifle

Beam rifle

The Beam Rifle is my top pick for its sheer single-target damage output. It fires a continuous laser beam that drills through armor and melts health bars.

At 10 fire rate and 1500 damage per tick, it reliably crits bosses for 300k+ per second, deleting their health bars in seconds.

The laser‘s 50 meter optimal range and hitscan accuracy lets you vaporize enemies before they ever close distance.

Obtaining: Defeat the thunder-based world boss Stormcaller and craft his drop at the lab.

Secondary: Revolver

Revolver

ForClose and mid-range combat, the Revolver outshines other handguns. It strikes a balance between fire rate, reload speed, and impact to dispatch groups efficiently.

Firing at 450 RPM with 100 damage per shot, it quickly whittles down nearby mobs. The bonus 150% weakpoint damage causes huge crit spikes too.

I choose fire rate-boosting mods here to maximize dps uptime. Combined with skills, you reach automatic fire.

Obtaining: Drops randomly from enemies on higher difficulties. Farm from the salamander miniboss.

Melee: Tempest Blade

Glowing sword

The Tempest Blade offers a versatile mix of speed, range and area damage that complements the Gunslinger‘s kit.

Each slash deals 5000 damage in a wide arc. Its mods inflict shock status (30 DPS over 5 sec) and vulnerability (+20% damage taken) too.

Chaining the shock effect with Beam Rifle headshots causes severe spike damage. The AOE helps manage adds that slip past your firing line as well.

Obtaining: Loot storm crystals from the air realm and have the weaponsmith forge it.

Alternate Weapon Choices

While those are my personal recommendations, you have flexibility picking weapons based on loot luck and preferences.

Any weapons with high damage, fire rate, reload speed, and either crit or weakpoint damage synergize well. Prioritize those stats over effects.

The key is covering long range poking, close anti-horde, and emergency melee. As long as your loadout achieves this, the options are quite open.

Armor Set: Vanguard

Futuristic armor

Surviving at long range hinges on damage resistance. Thus, I used the Vanguard set for its well-rounded defensive layers:

StatValue
Armor Rating+4500 Damage Reduction
Elite Damage Reduction35%
Status Effect ImmunityElemental types
Max Health+30%
Stamina+100

The bonus stamina and movement also improve evasion, kiting, and repositioning – critical for any ranged build.

Obtaining:
Random loot drops on apocalypse difficulty after defeating the time-shifting Chronovore guardian.

Amulet: Sniper‘s Mark

Necklace with crosshair pendant

While the Gunslinger Amulet offers nice offensive boosts, I prefer the Sniper‘s Mark for improving weapon efficiency:

BuffValue
Crit Damage+100%
Weakpoint Damage+45%
Optimal Range+20m

This further exploits core gun damage and ammo conservation – critical as shots are limited.

It also unlocks an exclusive effect: Headhunter – dealing damage against weakpoints reduces skill cooldowns. Excellent for maximizing build uptime.

Obtaining: Complete the Ascended Tower dungeon‘sTIMED mode. Open rewarded pod at camp.

Rings

Rings should provide damage, sustainability, rotations and adaptability:

Band of Bedlam (Primary)

  • 20% Critical Hit Chance
  • 40% Critical Damage

Causes almost half your shots to inflict savage crits.

Essence Link (Secondary)

  • Heals 2% of damage dealt
  • Reduces skill cooldown on crit

Constant health restores and faster rotations for peak momentum.

Huntsman‘s Band (Utility)

  • +100% Weakpoint Damage
  • 30% Increased Damage vs Elites

Keep up pressure on dangerous enemies.

These drop randomly from bosses matching their damage affinity.

traits

I invest trait points into the following order:

  1. Trigger Finger (5 points) – Further boosts fire rate by 50% for faster killing
  2. Glass Cannon (3 points) – Increases all gun damage by 20% but reduces health by 30%. Offsets with lifesteal sustains.
  3. Quick Hands (5 points) – Speeds up reloads by 50% to minimize downtime

Secondary Class: Challenger

Now let‘s cover how the Challenger perfectly complements the Gunslinger.

Armor Set: Juggernaut

Soldier armor

The heavy Juggernaut armor forms an impenetrable shell with:

StatValue
Armor Rating+5000 Damage Reduction
Crowd Control Resistance65%
Tenacity Below 30% Health60% Damage Reduction
Health Recovery+2000 Per Second
Melee & Skill Leech10% of Damage Dealt

This builds extreme tankiness to lead charges and anchor positions in the thick of combat.

Obtaining: Complete the 5 Challenger story quests then purchase from Bailey in the Ward.

Melee Weapon: Earthbreaker

Warhammer

This heavy warhammer crushes packs and elites with sheer impact force:

  • 3,200 Damage Per Swing
  • 4 Meter Knockback on Targets
  • Creates Fissure AE (Slows Enemies by 65%)
  • 15% Chance to Stun Targets

It also restores 20% of damage as health, fueling strong sustains.

Use its crowd control and AOE to manage adds that bypass your firing line. It‘s heavy hitting power also quickly executes weakened stragglers.

Obtaining: Found from random loot drops. Farm supply chests in the Ancient Mines area.

Skills

These skills offer strong utility:

Golem Fortification

Surrounds you with protective stone skins that absorb damage equal to 45% of your health. Use pre-emptively before bombarding enemies for an additional health buffer.

Gravity Well

Conjures a black hole that mass pulls enemies together from 15m while slowing them by 95%. Excellent for grouping up scattered ranged enemies to quickly burst them down with your Beam Rifle.

Shield Glare

Emits a flash that blinds enemies for 5 seconds. Useful if enemies ever reach proximity for escaping danger while they stagger. Lets you safely retreat and re-establish distance.

putting It All Together

Now let‘s examine how activating all these abilities in unison enables dominating any opposition.

The basis is maintaining distance using ranged weapons while leveraging skills at opportune moments. Get a feel for each weapon‘s timing and spray patterns until muscle memory kicks in.

Approaching new areas, open by using Shield Glare then Gravity Well to bunch and debilitate threats. Pick them off while they scramble before effects wear off.

Against bosses, apply Golem Fortification for an added health buffer. Swap to Beam Rifle while using the Sniper Amulet and Band of Bedlam to machine gun precision weak point hits. As health lowers, utilize Challenger‘s close range tools to pressure and finish while avoiding danger zones.

In cramped rooms, rely on Revolver with melee weaving to control space. Use Earthbreaker‘s knockback and stun effects to disrupt priority targets as they push through chokepoints. COUNTER PLAY: Bait overextended melee elites into gravity wells for an easy beam rifle melt.

While gameplay varies across encounters, chaining crowd control, weapon swapping, and strategic positioning keeps you actively dictating engagements. Experiment to discover ability combinations that best counter each faction.

Results

Executing these methods, I sustain offense even under alto scaled multiplayer environments. Most standard mobs die the moment they enter max firing range without straining ammo. Elites and bosses go down within 60 seconds at most.

By maximizing gun cadence through secondary class synergy, this build achieves speed-farming potential while also pushing high challenge tier content for endgame loot chasing. Adaptability shines too – easily swapping between long range domination and aggressive front lining.

I‘ve used this setup to clear all campaign content and reliably grind the Ascended Tower at max difficulty. Based on experience, it forms one of the quickest boss killing and add clearing builds available.
