NBA 2K23: Best Builds for Each Position

NBA 2K23 gameplay

NBA 2K23 offers players the chance to create their ideal basketball player. With so many attributes, archetypes, physical profiles and more to choose from, it can be overwhelming deciding how to build your MyPlayer. The key is understanding which builds excel at each position.

In this guide, I‘ll share the best builds for point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center. These recommendations are based on maximizing your MyPlayer‘s effectiveness on both offense and defense.

Point Guard Build

The point guard is responsible for running the offense and distributing the ball. You‘ll want high playmaking attributes along with decent scoring ability.

Best Build: Offensive Threat

Key Attributes:

  • Ball Handling: 95+ (Speed Boost Threshold)
  • Pass Accuracy: 85+
  • Mid-Range Shot: 85+
  • Three-Point Shot: 80+
  • Speed With Ball: 85+

With extremely high playmaking attributes, you‘ll be able to break down defenses and find open teammates with ease. You‘ll also be a great scoring threat, punishing teams who play too far off you.

On defense, high perimeter defense and lateral quickness will allow you to keep up with the fastest point guards.

Shooting Guard Build

As the name suggests, shooting guards prioritize scoring, specifically from the three-point line. You‘ll want to maximize shooting attributes along with enough speed and ball handling to create your own shot.

Best Build: 3-Level Scorer

Key Attributes:

  • Mid-Range Shot: 85+
  • Three-Point Shot: 95+
  • Ball Handling: 80+
  • Speed With Ball: 80+
  • Perimeter Defense: 75+

With nearly maxed out shooting attributes, you‘ll be an elite scoring threat from anywhere on the court. You‘ll also have enough ball handling and speed to create space from defenders. Solid perimeter defense ensures you won‘t be a liability on the other end.

Small Forward Build

Small forwards are versatile players who can score from all three levels. The ideal small forward build has great athleticism allowing you to finish at the rim along with a consistent jump shot.

Best Build: 2-Way Scoring Machine

Key Attributes:

  • Driving Dunk: 80+
  • Standing Dunk: 75+
  • Mid-Range Shot: 80+
  • Three-Point Shot: 75+
  • Perimeter Defense: 75+
  • Lateral Quickness: 80+

With great finishing ability along with a solid jump shot, you‘ll be a consistent scorer who can attack the basket or pull up from mid-range and three. Elite perimeter defense paired with high lateral quickness allows you to guard multiple positions.

Power Forward Build

The role of the power forward is to control the paint through rebounding and interior scoring. You‘ll want to maximize physical attributes like strength, vertical and rebounding.

Best Build: Paint Beast

Key Attributes:

  • Close Shot: 85+
  • Standing Dunk: 92+
  • Post Hook: 80+
  • Interior Defense: 90+
  • Block: 90+
  • Offensive Rebound: 95+
  • Defensive Rebound: 95+
  • Strength: 90+

With elite finishing ability and perhaps the best interior defense possible, you‘ll dominate the paint on both ends. Maxed out rebounding ensures you‘ll secure every possible board.

Center Build

Centers fill a very similar role to power forwards – controlling the paint through scoring, rebounding and defense. The difference is centers utilize their size and height advantage over nearly every opponent.

Best Build: Glass Cleaning Finisher

Very tall basketball player

Key Attributes:

  • Close Shot: 95+
  • Standing Dunk: 99
  • Post Hook: 85+
  • Interior Defense: 75+
  • Block: 90+
  • Offensive Rebound: 95+
  • Defensive Rebound: 95+
  • Vertical: 90+

Thanks to your elite size and length, you‘ll be an absolute force in the paint on both ends. Your scoring and rebounding ability will overwhelm opponents. Solid interior and help defense makes sure they don‘t score easy baskets inside either.

Making Adjustments

Keep in mind these builds are just recommendations – feel free to tweak attributes based on your own playstyle and priorities. For example, if you want your point guard to score more, add shooting badges. If you want your center to space the floor, give him more shooting attributes.

Finding the right balance that maximizes your strengths takes experimenting. I suggest trying multiple builds so you can learn what works best for you.

Hopefully this guide gave you some ideas on how to build the ideal player at each position. Let me know in the comments if you have any other questions!
