Let‘s get our green thumbs on and start growing! This is everything you need to master gardening in FE3H!

Why Bother With Gardening Anyway?

Before diving into the ins-and-outs of gardening, let‘s quickly cover why you SHOULD bother learning this system as a player. The greenhouse offers:

Motivation and Support Building: Gifts grown to improve supports and motivation. High motivation = better tutoring results.

Resources: Vendor crops for selling give steady gold income. Quest item crops help complete missions.

Stat Boosters: Special crops that permanently improve unit stats for battling.

BLT Building: Some harvests grant bonus points for teaching focus goals.

Adventure Tasks: Task board quests often want crafted gifts or vendor transactions.

Recruitment: Some students require specific giftable crops during recruitment.

Linked Attacks: Bonding through tea time requires optimal gift giving via gardening.

Investing in the greenhouse pays dividends in nearly all areas of progressing strength, supports, recruitment, gold income etc. It‘s invaluable!

Now let‘s get into the specifics of uncovering this gem of a system.

Unlocking Gardening: The Greenhouse

The greenhouse is initially locked when exploring the monastery. To unlock it, you must complete the “Green Thumbs Beginning” side quest from Hanneman.

This quest introduces the basic function of gardening – plant seeds, cultivate crops, harvest yields on a weekly cycle.

Once unlocked, you can access the greenhouse under Extras when exploring:

Greenhouse unlocked

This is where the gardening magic happens. Time to start planting!

Usage Limits Based on Professor Level

What you can plant is limited by Professor Level, increased by gaining Professor Points (PP) from lectures, seminars etc.

Here are the professor ranges and associated cultivation options:

Level E: 1 seed, Infuse with Magic
Level E+: 1 seed, Airmid Water
Level D: 2 seeds, Prune
Level C: 3 seeds, Scatter Bonemeal
Level B: 4 seeds, Caledonian Soil
Level A: 5 seeds, Pegasus Blessings

Higher levels give more seeds and better fertilizers for quality yields.

For example, Level E may give weeds while Level A might boost a Carrot into premium Ambrosia!

Seed Types and Harvest Yields

The seeds available cover a wide variety of botanicals from flowers to vegetables to herbs. On the surface, it may seem completely random what plants produce.

In truth, there ARE understood probability patterns. Let me break down the basics:

Seed Categories

  • Geographical (Morfis, Albinean)
  • Functional (Mixed Herbs, Root Vegetables)
  • Flower Colors (Red, Purple, Blue)

Possible Yields Per Seeds

  • Common Crops
  • Gift Crops
  • Vendor Crops
  • Stat Boosting Crops

For example, Red Flower Seeds may yield:

  • Common: Rose
  • Gift: Daffodil
  • Vendor: Onion
  • Stat Boost: Magdred Kirsch

Check the Appendix for a full seed to crop yield matrix!

Growth Times and Planning

Depending on the seed, crops take 2-5 weeks to fully mature.

You don’t want to forget to harvest! Missing crops means wasted yield slots.

As such, planning out grow times across multiple seeds is crucial.

Here are some tips:

  • Use the Gardening Planner tool
  • Stagger seed times
  • Set calendar reminders
  • Harvest multiples same day

For example Sunday Veggies, Wednesday Flowers and Friday Herbs.

Targeting Useful Crops

With finite seeds each week, deciding WHAT to grow can be challenging.

Some key items to target:

Gifts: Tea times and lost items for motivating students! e.g. Anemone, Carrot, Sweet Apple

Vendor Crops: Big ticket harvests to sell for $$$. e.g Magdred Kirsch, Boa Fruit

Stat Boosters: Rare game-changing springs increasing unit stats permanently! e.g. Speed Carrot, Ambrosia

Quest Rewards: Some free time events want crops! e.g. Premium Magic Herbs, Noa Fruit

Prioritze based on current needs. Out of gold? Sell vendor crops. Need motivation? Gift crops.

Once you have the basics down pat, there ARE ways to take your gardening even further!
