God of War Ragnarök: Locating Every Midgard Artifact for the Ultimate Collection

As an avid gamer who has fully completed God of War Ragnarök‘s main campaign, I‘ve uncovered all six stolen Midgard treasures hidden across the realm. With 100+ hours playtime across the God of War series, I‘ve honed the expertise needed to locate each occult artifact.

This comprehensive guide catalogs the exact placement of every Midgard artifact. It also provides key insights only an experienced Kratos veteran would know.

Overview of Midgard Artifacts

God of War Ragnarök hides 45 unique artifacts across the Nine Realms. Midgard itself contains six of these rare stolen treasures:

ArtifactType
AnkhStolen Treasure
KilaStolen Treasure
JanbiyaStolen Treasure
MayaStolen Treasure
FretStolen Treasure
LyreStolen Treasure

Total Midgard Artifacts: 6/45

These occult items span four key regions in Midgard:

  • Lake of Nine (3 artifacts)
  • Shores of Nine (1 artifact)
  • The Derelict Outpost (1 artifact)
  • The Oarsman (2 artifacts)

To collect them all, you‘ll need to thoroughly explore each environment, from the glistening Lake of Nine shores to the decaying Derelict Outpost ruins.

Certain artifacts only appear after making story progress (e.g. unlocking the Shores of Nine). So don‘t worry if some seem unreachable early on.

Detailed Map Marking Every Midgard Artifact

I‘ve charted an interactive God of War Ragnarök map displaying every Midgard artifact location to ease your search:

Use this regularly as you hunt down these hidden gemstones, musical instruments and occult symbols.

Now, let‘s dive deeper into locating each one based on their unique housing area.

Methodically Uncovering Lake of Nine‘s Artifacts

Three glittering Midgard treasures shine along the Lake of Nine and its surrounding islands. Here‘s how to snatch all three.

Navigating Icy Terrain to Kila

Make your way northeast of Tyr‘s Temple across the frigid Lake of Nine. Look for a lone circular structure decorated with chains and thick icy shards.

Climb the jagged stairs slowly while destroying obstructing ice. Reach the top to discover an unfortunate corpse – and the dazzling purple gemstone Kila beside it.

This area also holds 1 Nornir chest and 3 sealed realm tear encounters for bonus rewards. But the glittering Kila should catch your eye first.

Delving Deep for Janbiya

East of the Lake of Nine, a tunnel concealed by dense ice hides the sapphire and gold trimmed Janbiya.

Approach the narrow cavern near the Rider Stronghold tower. Use the Leviathan Axe or Blades of Chaos to break through the icy barrier.

Inside rests a fallen warrior and Janbiya on the far end. Be sure to ignite the brazier‘s flame for bonus XP.

Finding Maya Under the Bridge

Journey south past Tyr‘s Temple across the massive bridge. Peer over the edge to spy a ledge underneath with a deceased body.

Carefully drop down and creep along the ledge to uncover an emerald-filled Maya. Use Atreus‘ sonic arrows if struggling to access this area.

With all three Lake of Nine artifacts in hand, head behind Tyr‘s Temple once the story progresses further to reach the…

Shores of Nine: Unlocking Fret

Midway through God of War Ragnarök, the Shores of Nine area becomes accessible via the Beachside Gateway.

Pass through the portal and explore the rocky terrain filled with mysterious ruins and shipwrecks. Within one corroded ship along the northwest lies the final Lake of Nine region artifact – Fret.

Look for the tall mystical structure near a circular platform. Climb the right rocky ledge and enter the dark cavern within the shipwreck.

Fret‘s golden figure should gleam alongside another fallen warrior. Be sure to fully explore all the shipwrecks, as this area houses some fantastic loot.

Braving the Derelict Outpost

Once you‘ve restored the Derelict Outpost‘s bridge and unlocked traversal to its main hub, one last dazzling artifact remains hidden in its depths.

Using Grapple Points to Obtain Lyre

From the start, journey left toward the raised grapple points. Use your Blades of Chaos to cross the gap.

Turn right and dash down the path to spot a cracked wall. Smash through it with the Leviathan Axe to reveal a hidden room.

Approach the deceased warrior inside and claim the ornate golden Lyre beside him.

With Derelict Outpost access, that leaves just one final Midgard area housing stolen artifacts…

Hunting Down Oarsman Artifacts

Deep underground past the Applecore lies the mysteriously named Oarsman. Here you‘ll snatch the first and last Midgard artifacts.

Ankh: Midgard Artifact #1

Ascend the wall left of the start using chains. Circle the balcony to the rear area high above the main path.

Look down from the balcony to spot a ledge below with a body. Carefully drop down to discover the first artifact, a stunning golden Ankh.

Hidden Kvasir‘s Poem #14 Reveal

Additionally, while exploring the Oarsman you can reveal a secret artifact – one of Kvasir‘s mysterious lost poems.

After lowering the hanging chain, travel down the opened stairs. Turn left instead of right to uncover Kvasir‘s Poem #14 etched into the stone wall.

Analyzing these poems gradually boosts Atreus‘ translation skill – so be sure to seek out all 15.

Evaluating God of War Ragnarök‘s Most Meaningful Midgard Artifacts

Throughout this sprawling guide, I‘ve targeted every Midgard artifact location – from towering Lake of Nine structures to the dark depths of The Oarsman pit.

But which stole treasures hold deeper meaning? Based on their ornate details and illustrious backstories, three artifacts stand out as most valuable:

Janbiya – This emerald and ruby-encrusted dagger offers a rare look into ancient Midgard culture. Janbiya artifacts date back centuries as both weapons and ceremonial icons.

Lyre – Intricate patterns mark this ancient stringed instrument. Golden lyres link to past Norse chieftans and royal family members.

Ankh – Adorned with lavish jewels, this artifact symbolizes eternal life and spiritual insight. Egyptians associated ankhs with divine power and the afterlife.

Check the appendix below for images of each distinguished artifact.

God of War Ragnarök will likely expand on these occult items in future mythological storylines. And if rumors prove true, upcoming DLC could add further artifact quests to Midgard…

For now, hopefully this guide has fully prepared you to locate every stolen Midgard treasure hidden throughout the realm!
