Over 10 million users signed up to experience Dreamlight Valley in just its first 2 weeks – showing the tremendous anticipation for this Disney-themed adventure. Fans are especially excited to interact with beloved characters, customize their own homes and avatars, cultivate the land, gather ingredients, unlock recipes, and create mouthwatering dishes like perfect apple pies.
As a dedicated gamer and baker myself, I‘ve clocked over 60 hours journeying across this valley. I‘ve uncovered plenty of secrets about crafting recipes and leveling cooking skills along the way that I can‘t wait to share with you.
In this guide, we‘ll walk through how to bake the classic apple pie step-by-step, as well as tips to find ingredients and master Dreamlight Valley cooking. So let‘s get started!
Ingredients
To make an apple pie in Dreamlight Valley, you‘ll need:
- 3 Apples
- 1 Wheat
- 1 Butter
Here is a breakdown of where each ingredient comes from and how much it costs:

The ingredients total 570 Star Tokens if buying the wheat and butter.
My recommendation is to forage for apples naturally first before spending precious coins. And I suggest growing your own wheat rather than buying it as well.

Steps
Follow these easy steps to bake a delicious fresh apple pie completely from scratch:
1. Gather the Ingredients
Before you can start baking, you need to source the ingredients of course!
Forage apple trees throughout Dreamlight Valley to collect apples. Head to the Peaceful Meadows and forests where apple trees grow in abundance.
If you have seeds, consider planting wheat – water daily until ready to harvest. This allows you to save coins instead of buying wheat directly.
Once the restaurant Chez Remy opens, you can purchase butter. This may require progressing Remy‘s friendship quests first however. Luckily though, butter can also be crafted by combining milk and salt at a cooking station – which is my preferred method.
Tip: Stock up on extra ingredients while collecting so you can bake pies in bulk! Apples are unlimited from trees and wheat regrows. You‘ll level cooking faster making multiple pies.
2. Interact with a Cooking Station
Find a stove or cooking pot in a home kitchen or restaurant. I prefer using Remy‘s kitchen as it has more upgrades.
Your own home upgrades its kitchen over time though, so start there if it‘s all you have access to right now.
3. Select the Apple Pie Recipe
Choose the apple pie icon from the recipe book menu. As long as you have the 3 needed ingredients, it will allow you to proceed.
Recipes are unlocked by completing certain objectives and quests given by Remy. So if you don‘t see apple pie as an option yet, keep advancing your friendship with Remy!
4. Add the Ingredients
A menu will pop up allowing you to add ingredients. Select apples, wheat, and butter from your personal inventory.
As long as you‘ve gathered at least 3 apples, 1 wheat and 1 butter, you‘re all set. The pie doesn‘t require any exact ingredient amounts.
Pro Tip: If you want Maximum profits and XP, make as MANY pies as you have ingredients for! Ingredient quantities don‘t matter so max it out.
5. Wait for the Timer
Now the fun part… waiting! Apple pies take 30 real-time minutes to bake completely.
Stay nearby until it finishes, as you can still interact with objects and characters while it cooks in the background. Or you can exit out and come back later once done.
6. Collect Your Freshly Baked Pie!
Once baking hits 100%, collect your hot apple pie! This pie will fully restore 415 Energy and 37 Health when consumed.

Uses For Your Pies
Freshly baked apple pies are useful for plenty of activities across Dreamlight Valley. Here are the main things to do with your apple dessert creations:
Gift to Villagers
As a universal favorite gift amongst villagers, pies are a great way to quickly befriend Disney characters and progress their quest lines.
Remy, Merlin, and Scrooge are a few notable NPCs who love receiving gifted apple pies.
Sell for Star Coins
You can cook up batches of apple pies specifically to sell for profit! At Goofy’s shops, quality apple pies fetch over 200 star coins.
So baking apple pies with surplus ingredients can net you some decent income via the stall.
Place as Decor
Apple pies also make charming decorative elements you can place anywhere – in homes, restaurant kitchens, even the valley itself!
If gifting a ton to villagers, keep your best-looking pie displayed somewhere. It adds a cozy bakery aroma to any area.
Restore Energy & Health
Obviously we can’t forget eating apple pie ourselves too! They replenish a solid 415 Energy and small amount of Health – super useful for adventures.
I typically craft a few pies specifically to carry in my backpack for energy restores when I‘m out harvesting far from home.
Complete Quests
Certain NPC quests require cooking or delivering specific ingredients – like Remy asking for apples. An apple pie satisfies any request calling for apples beautifully.
So when Merlin wants apples or wheat, gift that wizard an apple pie! Two birds, one stone.
Upgrade Other Recipes
Higher quality recipes down the road call for apple pies themselves as ingredients! So stockpiling pies helps unlock more complex dishes later.
For example, apple pies are needed forinnamon apple pies, caramel apples, fruit crumbles cobblers…plus more coming soon I’m sure!

Efficient Apple Pie Production
Once I resolved to bake up batches of apple pies for profit and skills, I developed an efficient system. Here is my process:
1. Plant Wheat En Masse
I dedicate entire planter boxes just for wheat – planting hundreds at once across the valley. Wheat harvesting takes less than an hour, so fast regrows.
By maintaining vast wheat farms, I generate more than enough regular surplus for baking.
2. Forage Apples As I Explore
Wandering the valley completing quests or mining? I forage every apple tree in sight.
Stockpiling while doing other activities means returning home with full inventory ready for baking.
3. Establish A Dedicated Bakery
I set up a bakery corner in Remy’s kitchen exclusively for mass pie production.
With high-level stoves + boosts, I can craft dozens of pies rapidly. My bakery now generates endless gold! 💰
Where To Find Ingredients
Now let’s drill deeper into ingredient sources – where to easily collect apples, wheat, and butter:
Apples 🍎
Apple trees thrive in temperate climates Dreamlight Valley. Find bounties of apple trees in:
Peaceful Meadows – central fields (common)
Forest of Valor – sparse but present
Frosted Heights – along cliff edges by ice walls
Forage every apple tree seen! Even doing daily routes through these zones yields enough for baking.
Apples also appear randomly in the selection pool at Goofy’s Stalls, so check his shop.
And occasionally apples are given as rewards from villager quests or gifted by NPCs.
So harvesting wild trees truly is reliable enough for bulk apple pies.
Wheat 🌾
Unlike apples, wheat must be cultivated from seeds. Here’s how to obtain wheat efficiently:
Grow manually – Purchase wheat seeds for 10 coins from Goofy‘s Stall (or Scrooge‘s store) and manually plant/harvest them.
Farm bots – Once obtained, digging bots automatically plant and harvest crops! Set them to wheat for unlimited passive farming.
Purchase outright – You can skip growing wheat and buy it directly from Goofy‘s stall for 190 coins apiece…but I find that wasteful spending!
With enough seed planting, you‘ll have continuous wheat flowing for all recipes needing it – including delicious apple pies!
Butter 🧈
Butter is sold by NPC chef Remy once his restaurant Chez Remy opens. But MY preference is crafting butter manually via the following steps:
1. Get Milk
- Purchase from Chez Remy (inefficient)
- Keep cows in the valley to auto-generate milk
- Craft using Goofy’s stall ingredients
2. Get Salt
- Forage magical glowing blue minerals in the Glade of Trust
- Note: Grab extras to stockpile for butter crafting!
3. Craft Butter
- Add milk + salt together at a cooking station
This lets you skip spending coins at Remy’s shop AND level up your crafting mastery simultaneously via the process! It’s a win/win. 😊
Leveling Cooking Mastery
Baking dish after dish (especially repeatedly) is hands-down the fastest way to level your Cookery skill. Here’s exactly how mastery experience works:
- Each recipe awards fixed XP per dish
- XP is split between number of ingredients
- More ingredients = more XP per recipe
So complicated multi-component recipes offer much more XP potential down the road. But for now, focus on rapidly power-crafting apple pies often, as early mastery levels come swiftly. Enhanced stoves accelerates dish cooking speed too!
What’s great is that dishes remain valuable for leveling no matter your current tier – cooking apple pies earns just as much XP when apprentice tier as master tier.
