Defeating the Titans of Paldea: The Ultimate Pokemon Scarlet Guide

As an hardcore Pokemon fan diving headfirst into the rich open world of Scarlet/Violet, uncovering its secrets has been electrifying. And the mysterious Titans roaming the land have easily become one of my favorite additions. These larger-than-life giants with untold backstories are basically epic boss battles in the wild!

From analyzing old cave paintings to consulting ancient texts, I‘ve uncovered enough lore to determine the optimal order to challenge these colossal beasts. So strap in as I guide you on an unforgettable journey conquering the Titans of Paldea as an ultimate Pokemon trainer!

Overview – The Ancient Titans of Legend

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet have introduced 6 unique Titans across Paldea:

| Titan | Type | Abilities | pens18
| ————- |————-|————-|
Klawf | Rock | Shell Armor / Anger Shell | 15-20
Bombirdier | Flying/Dark | Keen Eye / Big Pecks | 23-27
Orthworm | Steel | Earth Eater / Sand Veil | 30-35
Great Tusk | Ground/Fighting | Protosynthesis | 45-50
Dondozo | Water | Unaware / Oblivious | 55-60
Tatsugiri | Dragon/Water | Commander / Storm Drain | 55-60

Legend says these mythical giants have roamed Paldea since ancient times. Each Titan lurks in a specific domain – be it towering cliffs, open skies or sprawling lakes.

And they are no pushovers in battle with unique strong abilities, high stats and diverse movesets. But I‘ve cracked the code to formulating the optimal battle plans against them!

Defeating Titans progresses the Path of Legends story and also rewards herbs that unlock incredible riding abilities for Koraidon/Miraidon. So without further ado, here is the best order to challenge these epic adversaries along with battle strategies to triumph over them.

1. Klawf – The Cliff-Dwelling Titan

This adventure begins with the Rock-type hermit crab Titan Klawf that clings to cliffs in South Province Area 3. With its massive front pincers and spiky rock shell, I knew this would be no walk in the park.

And I was right. Once aggravated, Klawf‘s ability Anger Shell activates, significantly boosting its Defense each turn it takes damage. Its Sturdy ability also prevents one-shot knockouts.

After scouring Paldea‘s archives, I learned about its behavior – Klawf only descends from its cliff to battle worthy opponents that persist and pass its tests of endurance. So I knew attrition tactics were key here.

Battle Strategy:

  • Lead with a Water Pokemon like Veluza to exploit Klawf‘s Rock weakness
  • Use Octolock to bind and negate Anger Shell boosts
  • Leech Seed to sap health for sustainability
-Deploy Ground types like Sandy Shocks and Diglett to chip away with super-effective damage

It was a war of attrition, but the strategy ultimately paid off resulting in a hard-fought victory! But just as I thought it was over, Klawf descended back into its cave, forcing round two! Thankfully Arena Star Arven showed up to back me up with his Shellder. Together, we eventually overcame this relentless creature.

2. Bombirdier – The Aerial Titan

After besting Klawf, mysterious smoke trails in West Province and loud distress calls from Pokemon led me to the Flying-type Titan Bombirdier. This giant vulture keeps to the highest mountains and clouds.

Battling in its terrain meant contending with Bombirdier‘s ability Big Pecks, which prevents Defense drops, and extremely high speed stats. Furthermore, its access to strong Flying, Dark and Rock attacks made resisting it with type advantages alone difficult.

Time for an unconventional approach:

Battle Strategy:

  • Open with a fast Electric type like Bellibolt to deal super-effective damage
  • Encore to lock Bombirdier into non-offensive moves to mitigate damage
  • Use Light Screen and Reflect to soften incoming attacks
  • Fill the field with Stealth Rock to inflict steady chip damage
  • Deploy sturdy Rock/Steel types to withstand hits while finishing it off

The strategy was a resounding success! But just when I thought I had won, Bombirdier retreated and came back even more furious than before! Thankfully Arven arrived in time with backup, giving us just enough firepower in this epic showdown.

Reward: Herba Mystica for Koraidon/Miraidon Swim Ability

3. Orthworm – The Burrowing Titan

While travelling to Levincia through East Province, I encountered suspicious digging activity. It turned out to be the Steel-type Titan Orthworm emerging from the earth itself! This metal leviathan had a natural armor of steel plates and blazing red eyes.

As expected, Orthworm‘s unique ability Earth Eater makes it immune to Ground attacks while also healing HP from them. And its high natural Defense stat already makes it extremely sturdy.

Time to penetrate its defenses with specialized penetration tactics:

Battle Strategy:

  • Open up with Fire-type BBQoil to melt its steel armor
  • Enlist Fighting-types like Annihilape that know Sacred Sword to bypass defenses
  • Use Metal Sound to lower Special Defense
  • Power up sweepers with Swords Dance, Dragon Dance and Nasty Plot
  • Equip hard hitters with Mystic Water/Iron Balls to inflict as much damage as possible

After a intense bout where Orthworm regenerated health from its fallen steel plates, we finally managed to defeat it. But just as before, it tunneled away and returned fiercer than ever by activating Sand Veil through a raging sandstorm.

Thankfully my research allowed me to prepare exactly for this contingency – a Magneton with Solar Beam to strip away its final remnants of HP. In the end Orthworm fell, granting us victory rewards!

Reward: Herba Mystica for Koraidon/Miraidon High Jump Ability

4. Great Tusk – The Primordial Titan

Venturing deep into Paldea‘s Western deserts, I stumbled upon rather violent earthquakes. And their epicenter turned out to be the Ground/Fighting Titan Great Tusk rampaging about wielding its huge namesake tusks. This prehistoric mastadon seemed like the resurrected ancestor of Donphan itself!

Great Tusk‘s ability Protosynthesis sharply raises its highest non-HP stat under harsh sunlight. And being part Fighting-type, its attacks already dealt devastating damage which could one-shot most Pokemon.

This called for unmatched firepower:

Battle Strategy:

  • Set up Light Screen/Reflect asap to cushion blows
  • Get a Snow Warning Vulflax to weaken its Protosynthesis
  • Enlist Flying-types like Flamigo that resist Fighting attacks
  • Use Surf and Energy Ball for high damage against weaknesses
  • Ancient Power to potentially raise stats and overpower it

The earth itself seemed to shake under the collisions of our attacks. Eventually Great Tusk let out a trumpeting cry and dug away into the sands whence it came after an epic back and forth tussle. But this was just a temporary respite as it soon resurfaced rejuvenated by a Herba Mystica, forcing round 2.

Thankfully the Sun had set, weakening its Protosynthesis in a twist of fortune. We capitalized on this second chance, finally felling the magnificent beast with a barrage of dazzling attacks. Our Pokemon had earned their rest, but the adventure was far from over!

5. Dondozo – The Submerged Titan

While traversing Casseroya Lake, an surprised me by offering clues to finding the Water-Titan Dondozo slumbering within its depths. I realized quickly that only the Swim Ability unlocked before could provide access here.

And it was no exaggeration when locals described Dondozo as a living fossil. The ancient fish possessed tremendous Special Attack capabilities in its sleep alone as I observed. Waking this Titan risked destructive consequences for all of Paldea!

But the battle-hungry trainer within me couldn‘t resist this ultimate challenge. Now for suitable countermeasures against its aqueous onslaught:

Battle Strategy:

  • Have a Pokemon with Lightningrod ability to redirect Electric attacks
  • Use Magnet Rise to avoid Earthquakes and fight on equal footing
  • Enlist Grass-types like Skiddo powered by the magical herb Les Champs to unleash super-effective Frenzies
  • Deploy bulky Sap Sippers like Girafarig to gain Attack boosts while resisting
  • Catch it offguard with Solar Beam during the Rain it summons

My Pokemon withstood torrent after torrent of endless Surfs. But slowly and surely, our combined efforts left even the mighty leviathan Dondozo drained and vulnerable. But the battle wasn‘t truly over until we defeated its unexpectedly cunning commander riding it…

Reward: Herba Mystica for Koraidon/Miraidon Climb Ability

6. Tatsugiri – The Deceptive Titan

For upon delivering the finishing blow to Dondozo, the tiny Tatsugiri revealed itself as the true Titan orchestrating this watery battlefield all along! Turns out it not only controlled Dondozo as a mount but also possessed the devastating power of a Dragon-type.

This Titan played on its unassuming size to catch me completely offguard with the sheer ferocity of its Special moves. And its Storm Drain ability granted immunity to Water attacks while boosting its own Power to overwhelming levels with each Surf! Truly cunning.

It was time to fight water with water:

Battle Strategy

  • Have a Water Absorb Seismitoad absorb its Water attacks
  • Use Dragalge/Turtonator to mitigate incoming Dragon Damage
  • Enlist Fairy tanks like Clefable to resist Dragon moves
  • Repeatedly bounce Sound-Based attacks to bypass Storm Drain
  • Unleash Mold Breaker Excadrill to wreck havoc with Earthquake

The finale was a as spectacular as it was grueling with Tatsugiri unleashing its corrupt command over all things aquatic against us. While its Storm Drain seemed unstoppable, our perseverance finally paid off breaking through in the end with pulverizing Dragon and Fairy attacks.

Watching Tatsugiri‘s defeatmarked the conclusion of my Titan-conquering expedition. And though parting ways with these magnificent creatures was bittersweet, the adventure itself had made it worthwhile. I left with my Scarlet protagonist Koraidon having well and truly earned his title as an apex riding Pokemon!

Reward: Herba Mystica for Koraidon/Miraidon Climb Ability
