An Epic Quest for Onions: My Journey in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As an avid gamer and fan of life simulation titles, I was thrilled when Disney Dreamlight Valley released into early access. However, I soon learned that cooking quests and recipes required a surprisingly elusive ingredient – onions!

Little did I know the lengths I would have to go to get my hands on this humble vegetable. Join me as I chronicle my trials and tribulations in gathering the precious onions across magical realms.

The Mysterious Lack of Onions

Shortly after starting my Dreamlight Valley adventure, Remy gave me a quest to cook Ratatouille. According to the recipe, I needed onions, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, peppers, and herbs. No problem, right?

I headed to Goofy‘s Stall in the Peaceful Meadow to purchase the ingredients…or so I thought. To my shock, I discovered onions were nowhere to be sold! Where could they be hiding?

Where are the onions?

I spoke with every merchant, dug up sparkling ground with my shovel, and salvaged from Moana‘s Boat, but turned up no onions. I asked friends who play, and they were equally clueless. Online guides vaguely mentioned needing to help Goofy upgrade his shop.

So I set out on an onion quest across Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s realms! Little did I know the challenges ahead…

Unlocking Goofy‘s Forest of Valor Stall

The first step in my journey was gaining access to Goofy‘s second stall located in the Forest of Valor. So I focused all my efforts on collecting Dreamlight to open the new realm.

I cooked bountiful meals, gifted favorite items to strangers, and customized furniture to gradually accumulate the 3000 Dreamlight required. Once I hit that magical milestone, sparkling lights led me to explore an enchanted forest realm.

Sure enough, there was Goofy‘s mysterious second stall! Unfortunately he had abandoned it in disrepair. I had to rebuild and upgrade it before any ingredients would be stocked once more.

Repairing the Neglected Stall

Talk about an unmotivated shop owner…Goofy‘s stall in the Forest of Valor was totally decrepit! I rolled up my sleeves to clean, repair the roof, restock merchandise, and more.

Even after weeks helping of helping that lazy dog rebuild, he had the audacity to not sell onions. Goofy only offered measly carrot and potato seeds. Back to working for this ungrateful shopkeeper it was!

Finally after his second stall upgrade, I spotted those beautiful tear-shaped bulbs…onion seeds for 50 star coins! I happily forked over my hard earned currency.

The Joys of Onion Cultivation

I carefully planted my 10 onion seeds in fertile dirt, making sure to space them properly. Then I meticulously attended to the crops, watering twice a day and applying fertilizers from Wall-E.

A few real-world days later, those little sprouts had flourished into swaying green stalks ready for harvest! Equipped with my new Crystal Shards tool, I went down the row yanking each ripe onion.

The shining vegetables plunked perfectly into my basket – I had done it! My long quest was complete with a bountiful onion supply in tow. I excitedly cooked my first onion-filled Ratatouille for Remy‘s quest. It felt so rewarding after such an arduous journey!

Now let me impart the onion cultivation knowledge gained on my crusade into Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s next unexplored realm.

Purchasing Onions vs Seeds vs Stealing?!

Once you‘ve helped upgrade Goofy‘s Forest of Valor stall twice, there are a few ways to acquire onions:

Buy Onions

  • Cost: 255 star coins each
  • Amount: Up to 10 per day
  • Wait: None, immediately available

Buy Onion Seeds

  • Cost: 50 star coins per 10 seeds
  • Amount: 10 seeds bag plants 30 onions
  • Wait: 5 minutes grow time per onion

Steal from Goofy?!

  • Cost: Free if not caught!
  • Amount: Could yield 20+ if lucky!
  • Wait: None, but consequences if spotted!

Obviously seeds are the most cost effective option if you‘re willing to wait a few real-world days for crops to mature. Buying pre-grown onions can be useful for time sensitive quests when you desperately need them immediately.

And I‘ve heard whispers around the valley of players stealthily snatching onions from right under Goofy‘s nose! Though he will get quite upset if caught stealing from the stand. I personally wouldn‘t risk the friendship decay or nightmares!

Optimizing Your Onion Empire

Any good farmer knows meticulous care is required for the highest crop yields! Make use of these tips:

MethodEffectItems Needed
Fertilize soilAccelerates grow time by 1 stageFrom Wall-E‘s Stall
Use crystal shardsHarvest +1 onion per plantUpgrade tool with Scrooge
Adjust biomeSet heat/water preferencesAt the castle

Additionally, upgrading your watering can at Scrooge‘s shop increases the plants watered at once for faster daily care.

With bonus speed-gro fertilizer, crystal harvesting shards, and ideal Sunlit Plateau biome, I was able to yield 40 onions per 10 seed bag – that‘s some serious veggie efficiency!

Ranking Onion Dishes

Clearly onions have fantastic value for farming and profits. But what are the tastiest onion meals I should be cooking up with my bountiful harvests?

Here is my personal ranking of the most useful onion recipes to master:

DishEnergyGoldGifting
Vegetable Medley+71210Wall-E #2
Roasted Vegetables+51242Merlin #7
Fish Creole+1471128Eric #1
Bouillabaisse+3561385Goofy #4

Vegetable Medley is the best bang for buck meal to restore player energy. Meanwhile Bouillabaisse fetches by far the highest profits!

When I‘m looking to befriend NPCs quicker, nothing beats gifting Remy his favorite Ratatouille or Eric the tasty Fish Creole. Now you have no excuses not to master onion cuisine!

Closing Thoughts

And there ends my grand saga harvesting the precious onions across Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s realms! Who knew that attaining this simple vegetable would send me on such an epic quest?

In the end, I repaired an abandoned stall, nurtured seeds into bountiful crops, and cooked marvelous onion dishes. My farming and friendship levels have skyrocketed since bringing onions into my daily routine!

I hope these hard-earned tips help my fellow players locate their own precious onions without such arduous effort. Just beware that gnomes have been spotted stealing crops from poorly guarded farms under cover of night…

Maybe we‘ll cross paths in the valley someday. I‘ll be the one with the towering onion empire!
