A Guide to Clearing the Blind Burrows in Diablo 4

As an avid Diablo 4 player boasting over 200 hours of demon-slaying playtime, few dungeons have tested my combat prowess as much as the Blind Burrows located in the Hawezar region. This network of infested caverns, filled with maggots, venomous spiders and corrupted villagers, provides a thrilling balance of strategic goals and white-knuckle fights.

In this extensive guide, I‘ll leverage my firsthand experience delving into the putrid depths of the Blind Burrows to prepare you to take on its many challenges. Follow along for maps, enemy intel, boss strategies and tips that will enable you to walk away drenched in venom but victoriously clutching new legendary loot.

Origins of the Blind Burrows

These dungeon tunnels were not always home to such nightmarish creatures. In past ages before the Sin Wars, they served as declining mining burrows ripe with glimmering gold deposits.

But 100 years ago, a powerful Succubus blood mage named Santiel sought to claim the abandoned mines as a seat for her growing legion. Her fleshcrafting spells and blood rituals slowly corrupted local creatures and humans alike, morphing them into the hideous Spider Cult that now occupies the burrows.

Dark whispers suggest Santiel‘s magic also awakened an ancient guardian spider god that still stalks the lightless caverns…

Where to Find the Dungeon Entrance

The southern tip of the Fethis Wetlands zone features a ridge of stone nestled by eerie spider egg clusters. Approach cautiously! Clearing these sacs reveals the fissure-like mine entrance, surrounded by intricately carved warning runes etched long ago.

Utilizing the nearby Zarbinzet Waypoint shrines you‘ll find along the road offers the quickest return access. You‘ll likely want to come back to farm all the Blind Burrows‘ rare upgrade materials, gear and infamy.

Surviving the Labyrinth of Burrows

Upon squeezing into the cramped, mucus-coated tunnels, you‘ll need to navigate through 3 twisting corridors tainted with the presence of the Spider Cult:

  1. The Sticky Strands:
Filled with fast, agile spiderlings ensnaring you with their sticky webs

  2. Maggot Molt:
Puddles of flesh-eating acids chew away your boots. Beware of sluggish but hard-hitting giant maggots!

  3. The Cocooned Crypt:
Countless spider egg sacs line the walls, ready to unleash freshly hatched swarms of hatchlings.

I strongly advise bringing antidote and acid-resistant potions – the environmental and venomous attacks will quickly overwhelm the unprepared adventurer!

Phase 1 Objective: Eliminate the Infested Villagers

Throughout the disorienting tunnels, 3 unique elite enemies bearing the "Infested Villager" title await. Your first goal is to systematically hunt down and slay these corrupted humans.

Infested Villager Stats
Health Points250,000
ResistancesPoison +50%
Movement Speed10 yards/second
Attack Damage8,000 poison per hit
  • Gregor the Crawled:
This hulking villager erupts from egg sacs and attacks with melee vomit spray

  • Violet the Broodmother:
She unleashes targeted poison missiles that reduce action speed

  • Santiel‘s Chosen:
Attacks summon egg clusters containing either swarm spiders or gold drops

I found the optimal strategy was isolating and bursting down each Infested one-by-one. If you engage multiple at once, or draw too many normal enemies, you‘ll quickly become overwhelmed!

Phase 2 Objective: Defeating Broodguard

After cleansing the tunnels of Infested villagers, an expansive cavern opens up – the Midnight Haven. Littered with the bones of less fortunate travelers, this serves as the lair for the dungeon‘s ultimate adversary:

Broodguard.

Movement Speed4 yards/second
Attack Damage550,000 poison per projectile hit

Broodguard is no typical arachnid. It towers stories tall, with a thorax wide as a city fountain. Its screeching cries are enough to make your organs convulse. And it boasts enough toxic venom to depopulate half your adventuring party.

I advise entering this battle with acid resistance gear and health potions equipped. Because Broodguard fights dirty, with abilities including:

  • Mandible Impale:
On proximity, delivers lightning-fast melee strikes from its gnashing fangs

  • Spore Volley:
Lobs spread-shot clusters of poison projectiles from afar

  • Broodmother‘s Call:
Endlessly summons elite Widow spiders, Web Lurkers, Egg Clusters

Much like a raid boss from classic MMORPGs, Broodguard is a drawn-out battle of endurance. Your main goal is avoiding its hard-hitting venom attacks while systematically eliminating the hordes of spider adds to avoid becoming overwhelmed.

Here‘s the battle strategy I‘ve refined over multiple successful Broodguard kills:

While an epic encounter, exercising patience, poison resistance and add control will net you a lucrative pile of gear off Broodguard‘s hairy corpse. Which brings us to…

Blind Burrows Completion Rewards

Defeating Broodguard nets substantial rewards befitting the efforts:

  • 50,000 Gold
  • 2 Billion XP
  • Aspect of the Tempest Ability Codex (Druid focused)
  • 10-15 Random Magic/Rare Items
  • Chance for Legendary item drop

However, the benefits extend further through repeat runs. The Blind Burrows remains a reliable source for:

  • Spider Venom crafting material
  • Chance of Legendary spider loot table gear
  • Leveling alts

After my initial clear, I now incorporate occasional Blind Burrows farming into my regular Diablo 4 gear optimization runs.

Verdict: An Adrenaline-Fueled Dungeon Crawl

In closing, I highly recommend the Blind Burrows dungeon for mid-level Diablo 4 players seeking to test their mastery over swarms of foes while pushing for elusive legendary items.

Compared to more linear story missions, the multi-phase objectives, rewarding optional bosses and wealth of venoms/crafting fodder provide excellent replay value. This remains one of the most lucrative gold & XP farming spots I‘m aware of once you learn to tame the spider-filled halls.

Just make sure your flasks and antidotes are fully stocked before delving in! I welcome any other Veteran Vault Raiders to share their own Blind Burrows tactics and stories in the comments.
