Psycho-Cybernetics - Zero Resistance Living Newsletters

I keep hoping that David Allen will write a book based on what he teaches in his Leveraging Focus & Vision seminars. In his Getting Things Done Fast…Fast! CDs he alludes to some of what he teaches in the Leverging Focus and Vision seminars, but I’m still craving more and so far have been unable to attend a live seminar.

There was some discussion about the seminar on the DavidCo Forums back during the summer. One of the members on that board had called DavidCo and asked about some other sources that might contain some of the material discussed in the live seminars. The only one he remembered was a book called Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz. I found that The New Psycho-Cybernetics, an update of the original 1960’s book, was available unabridged from Audible. I immediately purchased it, burned it to CD, and started listening to it on my commutes. (I’ll share more about the book in later posts.)

Anyway, the book mentions that there is an archive of the Zero Resistance Living newsletters on the Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation’s web site. When I went to the web site I couldn’t find this. It seemed that they had redesigned the web site sometime between when the book was released and when I actually read it. I usually really like the brief articles in most newsletters so I was sorely disappointed. Then I got an idea!

I visited the WayBack Machine and found several archived versions of the psycho-cybernetics.com web site. This allowed me to quickly determine when the web site had been redesigned and to find a page that linked to all the old newsletters.

If you are a fan of Psycho-Cybernetics then enjoy these extra writings. If you aren’t yet a fan of Psycho-Cybernetics, then you may want to use peruse these to find out what it’s all about. Either way, enjoy!

My old inkjet printer wants to file a complaint with you: he’s working overtime now. Which means: thanks for the link, I’m printing ‘em for later reading.

I’m glad you found the link useful. I actually saved all the HTML pages to my hard drive, created a new index page, and brought them all into my Palm where I could read them with iSilo. I now have an item on my Projects list to read them all.

I am looking for pratical techniques one can imploy for improving one’s self image. Psycho-Cybernetics is a great book but it does not give a novice real life applications to improve self image. Can you help or direct me to the correct reading material?

Tony - I’m not quite sure where to direct you. You will find that almost avery self-help book that has been published in the last 50 years draws from the techniques that Dr. Maltz presented. There is a Psycho-cybernetics Yahoo! group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Psycho-Cybernetics) that may be able to help you. Good luck! Let us know what you find out.

You inspired me. I knew zap but I did not know how to show others how to use it in so simple, and useful, way.
    Thanks again. =)

    Hi,

    thanks for the information!

The link seems to be dead again, you had mentioned that you had saved the newsletters, any chance on posting them or a link to them here ?

In addition, have you reviewed or had any experience with Matt Furey’s Zero resistance living ? It seems they Phsycho-cybernetics site and Matt Furey are now linked ?

    Thanks,

    Matt

Matt - Sorry, but the letters are copyrighted, so I can’t post them, or share them myself. In fact, I doubt that I still have my own local copies. :( The link seems to be intermittent, so you may want to continue trying, or do some of your own mining on the WayBack Machine to find them Good luck!

I’m not exactly sure what the relationship is between The Psycho-Cybernetics foundation and Matt Fury/Zero Resistance Living is like, but apparently they have been strongly affilliated for quite some time.
